Istituto Superiore di Oncologia

The Istituto Superiore di Oncologia (ISO) is an interuniversity consortium established by the Italian Ministry of University and Research. It was founded in 1990 and is located in Genoa.

It is constituted by the universities of Bologna, Chieti, Genoa, Insubria, Messina, Modena and Reggio Emilia, Naples "Federico II", Padua, Piemonte Orientale "A. Avogadro", Pisa, Rome "La Sapienza", Sassari, Turin and Trieste.

ISO promotes fundamental research, experimental research, basic research, prevention, and preclinical trials for cancer patients as part of their status as an inter-university consortium.

They actively carry-out commissioned studies and research on behalf of state administration offices, public and private organizations, and provide to such, opinions and support tools relative to problems in the oncology sector.

In 2003 ISO was accepted as a full UICC member.
