Israel Cancer Association (ICA) was founded in 1952. Many years of involvement and a proud record of achievement have earned ICA widespread recognition, both nationally and internationally, as a prime leader in the fight against cancer. ICA set its goal to reduce the mortality and morbidity rates of cancer by waging an encompassing fight - by promoting research, prevention and early detection, improved methods of treatment and rehabilitation and quality of life. ICA supports cancer patients throughout their ordeal and strives to ensure their rights. ICA works in collaboration with the health authorities but is financially independent. All of ICA's means are derived from public contributions, with no funding from government funds. Nevertheless, ICA acts as a complimentary agent while serving as a catalyst for innovation. Throughout its existence, the ICA has worked continuously to make the fight against cancer a national priority - no simple matter in a nation beset by constant threats, economic hardships and social upheaval. Since 1966, ICA has been full UICC member.
