Hungarian League Against Cancer

Hungarian League Against Cancer was founded in 1990 in Budapest and is now the leaders in the fireld of supportive care of cancer patients.

The League fights to change the way that the government looks at cancer, screening patient support and rehabilitation. They are not under the authority of any government department, and instead focus on promoting their agenda in order to influence law makers and policy reforms.

Hungarian Cancer League operates with strategic, economic and health-educational, nurse, regional, charity-service and international work groups to ensure that their activities effectively promote the welfare of the population. They continue to fight for cancer awareness and a better standard of living for all who are afflicted with cancer.

The League supports a scientific project conducted by Hungarian oncologists and molecular biologists, who are working with a fermented wheat germ extract called Avemar, which has been verified as both scientifically important and therapeutically beneficial. In Hungary, a great quantity of Avemar is being donated to cancer patients. It is considered a supportive therapy for cancer patients.

In 2008, the Hungarian League Against Cancer became full UICC member.
