The organization was founded in 1996 and is one of the leading NGOs which work in the sphere of Health care.

One of the main goals of the organization is prophylactic measures of cancer diseases among the population of Ukraine.

Fields of activity:
o Support of Breast and Cervical cancer screening and early diagnostic programs;
o Independent expertise and strategic development in the sphere of Reproductive health and Cancer prevention;
o Education of medical personnel regarding screening and cancer prevention with conferences, seminars and trainings;
o Psychosocial and medical rehabilitation of Breast cancer patients with the creation and implementation of rehabilitation services;
o National informational and educational campaigns on cancer prevention and healthy life style;
o Advocacy of patients rights;
o Management in Health care;
o Fundraising.

The Foundation Women Health and Family Planning became an associate member of UICC in May of 2008.

Fields of activity:
1. Informational and educational campaigns and projects on cancer prevention and cancer early diagnostic of the reproductive organs (Cervical Cancer, Breast Cancer, Prostate cancer): Annual National campaign “October - Breast cancer month” since 2001; National “Hot line project” (8 8005050900 –free call for all Ukraine regions); numerous media projects (popular magazines and professional journals, TV, Radio, Internet); documentary film “Way to recovery”; press events in Kiev and regional press clubs (in cooperation with media NGO ”Ukrainian reform education project”); development and edition of informational materials (brochures, leaflets, manuals) for the patients and family members, general population; manuals for the family doctors.

2. Psychosocial and medical rehabilitation of Breast-cancer patients: Creation and implementation of rehabilitation services and programmes on the bases of Kiev city Oncological Hospital; support (training of the personal) in the creation of similar centres in other regions of Ukraine; since 2004 annual Rehabilitation programme for the women after mastectomy in Crimea (Yalta); annual conferences and trainings for rehabilitation services providers; Fundraising for programmes.

3. Training of Medical Personnel: conferences, seminars, trainings.

Advocacy activities: Under the initiative of Foundation “Women health & Family Planning” in 2003 was created the Network and then Coalition of 22 regional NGOs “Advocacy against Cancer” which promotes training of knowledgeable and experienced activists, helps NGOs related to Health Care System, well-known public activists, doctors and women who had Breast Cancer (BC) to initiate women rights advocacy, to launch medical prophylactics programs, to provide modern diagnostics opportunities, treatment, rehabilitation and social support of BC patients. Now, this NGOs are successfully working in the field of BC Advocacy, implementation of European guidelines, information - educational campaigns on early diagnostics of BC, psychological and social support of patients with BC on the local and national level. During 2006-2007 joint project with Health and Human Rights committees of the Ukrainian Parliament.
