Comisión Pro Fomento Vecinal Plaza Cuauhtémoc has developed the area of promotion, prevention, recovery and research. It is becoming a reference center for the area and one of the major effectors of health.

The General Hospital aims to provide quality health care, efficiency and equity in line with the tenets of the Ministry of Health and institutional policies within the role that it should.

Their vision is maintaining healthy psychological and physical aspects of personal and group members of the organization creating a work environment conducive to better performance of their duties.

The Comision has been registered as a juridical entity and established for 7 years like voluntary local community support to the medical Polyclinic located in the homonymous place, in Pueblo Ferrocarril, Colón, Montevideo, has developed throughout the diverse years activities directed to the prevention in health and especially to the prevention of the cancer, as much in his soothes physical, the polyclinic, like in the diverse educative centers as much of primary and secondary education of the region. It is integrated by neighbors with different professions and offices: communitarian agents, nurses, psychologists, doctors, retailers, housewives, police, firemen and others. Their members have concurred to especially scatter to educative aspects in health and in control of the tobacco to televising, radial means of press national, of written press and the premises of written press and communitarian radios. They have participated with other organizations like Rotary Club de Colon of diverse preventive activities in different scopes, after which permanent bows have settled down, that as in this case allow to establish a collaboration in the present project like with the educative organizations who include the Familiar and Community Medical Education in the region as well as the future Maternity of the CHN Gustavo Saint Bois, that belongs to the public attendance and is in the heat of development. We have participated as much in courses of formation in control of tobacco addiction like of the development of strategies in the control of tobacco and drugs from the year 2000 first like member of the honorary national commission of tobacco addiction and soon in a specific project in the greatest maternity of the country, CH Pereira Rossell. Directs the UNITAB, control unit and treatment of the CHN Gustavo Saint Bois, unit established in 2005, with voluntary nurses, ex- smokers, psychologists and doctors, with who we are going to establish bows for the formation in specific interventions of medical technicians midwives and staff of the future maternity of the regional hospital.

In June 2009, Comisión Pro Fomento Vecinal Plaza Cuauhtémo became associate UICC member.
