Cancer Council Victoria
The Cancer Council Victoria is a non-profit organization involved in cancer research and cancer support, prevention and advocacy.
The council`s leadership, integrity and compassion, are manifested in their cooperative external relationships, evidence-based work, community approaches and research practices. They maintain a strong public profile and preserve their independence to maximize their ability to influence the public agenda.
In order to best support people with cancer and their families and friends, resources like a telephone helpline were set up for people to access information. The hotllines are operated by trained oncology nurses and can use a comprehensive database of research and details of statewide and local services for callers.
The Cancer Council Victoria was accepted as full UICC member in 1970.
