The Cancer Council Northern Territory is a 27-year-old non-government, charitable, community based organization committed to raising funds for the purpose of reducing the impact of cancer. It achieves this by providing information and support for people affected by cancer and public education programs that increase awareness and prevention of it. The Cancer Council's Outreach Program provides their clients who may be considered isolated by virtue of distance or culture access to supportive care. The breast care nurse visits communities to meet clients and provide support to them & their significant others. Culturally appropriate booklets & brochures help explain the treatments, treatment options and expected outcomes. Health care staff from the communities are also educated on aspects of the cancer disease process and the treatment options available for the client. The Cancer Council Northern Territory has been UICC full member since 1986.
UICC is comprised of a wealth and variety of members
