Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN) was founded in 1968 and reported to the National Cancer Association of South Africa. In 1978 the Association became independent from South Africa and changed its name. The Association fights cancer and its consequences countrywide in order to benefit all Namibians. They stand in co-operation with the community supporting health education and rendering care and support services for the most people possible. CAN aims to educate the general public regarding the prevention and dangers of cancer, to be able to give welfare to all cancer sufferers according to established criteria and to continue ongoing research, specifically in the demographics of cancer. Since 1979, Cancer Association of Namibia has been a full member with UICC.
UICC is comprised of a wealth and variety of members
