Light a Candle in Support of World Cancer Day

Light a Candle

The Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative invites you to light a candle in support of World Cancer Day. We hope to provide a moment of reflection and appreciation, an opportunity to honor survivors and to share tributes to those who are no longer with us.

To participate, take a moment to think about the light of the person's life and to allow it to brighten your own. Then light a candle and share your message with the world.

Today, cancer affects everyone. The statistics are staggering. Each year globally, 12.7 million people learn they have cancer, and 7.6 million people die from the disease. With the proper prevention, detection and treatment programs, many lives can be saved. With additional high-quality research, people diagnosed with rare and aggressive cancers can be helped too. Each life touched by cancer and each death caused by cancer is a reason to support World Cancer Day.

Please join us in this effort and share it with everyone you know. We hope that education and prevention efforts will lead to fewer diagnoses of preventable cancers and that there will be more research on less understood, unpreventable cancers. We hope for more lives saved.
