THE INDIAN CANCER SOCIETY'S ANNUAL WALK 2011
The Indian Cancer Society organizes a Walk for Cancer Awareness every year on International Cancer Awareness Day – the first Sunday in February. In 2011 this falls on Sunday 6 February.
We have scheduled the Walk to start and end at the Navy Children s School, Chanakyapuri. New Delhi. The Walk is about 1.9 km in length. It has to be tailored to energy levels of participating patients. As this year’s walk is for Awareness of Childhood cancers, we have invited Mr. Milkha Singh & young athletes to join us as Guests of Honour. The Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute is also a partner.
We expect 2000 participants including patients, caregivers, wellwishers, school & college students who all join together in spreading the word,'Cancer is Curable when detected Early." We also have a large participation from Army, Navy & Coast Guard. The Navy Chief is likely to be with us too. We also plan a brief programme of song & dance put up by participating groups to keep the audience entertained.
