What is the Declaration?

World Cancer Day - 4 February 2012

World Cancer Day takes place every year on 4 February and is the singular initiative under which the entire world can unite together in the fight against the disease.

Nominations open for UICC Board of Directors and UICC President-Elect

All Members of the Board of Directors and the President-Elect for the period 2012-2014 will be elected by the UICC General Assembly. Deadline for nominations is 31 January 2012.

Partners

Sanofi Aventis and UICC work in partnership to help children with cancer live longer and healthier lives through the My Child Matters programme which has been running since 2006.

Swiss Cancer League works with UICC across the key programmes in the “together we are stronger” campaign.

WCRF International is a fully vested partner of UICC’s 'Together we are Stronger' campaign, and is closely involved with two key areas of work: making the UN Summit on NCDs a success, and raising awareness of cancer prevention.

ACS and UICC collaborate across a range of programmes. Together they aim to reduce the number of cancer patients suffering unbearable pain without access to pain relief and ensure appropriate targets are set for cancer at the UN Summit on NCDs.

Roche made a special investment in 2010 to support the urgent and important work UICC is leading in cancer prevention through World Cancer Day.

The Norwegian Cancer Society has made important investments in the global advocacy campaign to make cancer prevention and care key priorities on the global health agenda.

The support of DKG has enabled UICC to communicate more effectively with our members, build momentum for the World Cancer Declaration and play an active role in pressing the UN to hold a summit on non-communicable diseases.

By providing a financial investment and expertise in lobbying and advocacy, Livestrong is working with UICC to increase the understanding of how cancer can be treated and prevented among key policy-makers.
