Human Chain on Cancer Awareness

People linking up and displaying placards to highlight the causes of cancer and the ways they can be kept at bay

This event, to be held on one of the busiest roads of Chennai, capital city of Tamil Nadu State in India will turn the attention of thousands to the possibilities for cancer prevention and early diagnosis.

It will focus on such factors as tobacco avoidance, the importance of healthy lifestyle, sensible eating habits and speedy medical examination for those who who require it. The emphasis is on prevention, early diagnosis and treatment, all of which raise hope.

A large number of people will link up in a 'human chain' on World Cancer Day, Friday, February 4 at about 9 am on Poonamallee High Road (EVR Periyar High Road) just outside the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and Madras Medical College to send this message out. Many will carry placards with World Cancer Day messages.

Since this event will be held virtually outside the grand old Central Station rail terminal of Chennai, it will be visible to hundreds of travellers from all over the country. Such events are normally covered extensively by the print, visual and online media, widening the reach of the message.
