Global Call to Action: Public-Private Partnership for Cancer Care and Control
The Department of Health Center of Excellence for Public-Private Partnerships in Health, National Cancer Institute Initiative, University of the Philippines Manila, Philippine General Hospital, Cancer Institute Foundation (CIF) for the Cancer Prevention Center with Jhpiego – an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, Public-Private Partnership Center of the Philippines, Philippine Cancer Society and Chevron Geothermal Philippines Holdings Inc., joins the international community in celebrating World Cancer Day through Global Call to Action: Public-Private Partnership for Cancer Care to be held on February 3, 2012 at the Diamond Hotel - Manila.
This event as a response to the Union of International Cancer Control’s call to join in the fight against cancer will also create an opportunity for networking among concerned groups, the sharing of best practices, and the affirmation that fighting cancer is not only a local and government concern but also a global and multisectoral priority.
It will be a forum on cancer for leaders coming from key executive and legislative institutions of the national government, leaders of nongovernmental organizations, as well as representatives of civic conscious industries, champions and leaders of health care and pro-healthy lifestyle organizations, cancer patients, and support groups, the private sector and media. The event will also be an initial mapping exercise of public and private organizations working or interested in cancer prevention and control in order to identify the strengths, synergies as well as gaps. Ultimately, the goal of the event is to bring together a group of leaders who will champion cancer prevention and control in the Philippines.
