World Cancer Day awareness programme

The introduction to cancer awareness was delivered by Dr. Pragadeesh Raja. Doctors disseminated information on various common cancers, including oral cancer, cervical cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, etc. Each topic was elaborated and explained through relevant posters, covering causes, diagnostic tests, prevention, and treatment. These posters were designed to help people understand the information clearly.

Lifestyle and dietary modifications were emphasised as effective measures for preventing many types of cancer. Early screening and diagnosis were highlighted as crucial steps in curing cancer and preventing further deterioration of the patient's condition. Early-stage diagnosis can save lives, and screening tests were thoroughly explained. The significance of diagnostic and screening tests was underscored.

The session included a discussion on the importance of self-examination for breast cancer detection. The adverse effects of tobacco smoking, alcohol consumption, and food substances containing carcinogens were explained in detail. The event was interactive, with attendees asking questions and doctors providing clarifications.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Block Development Officers, attendees for their patience, and Dr. Raja, the Head of the Department of Community Medicine, for providing the opportunity to conduct such an awareness programme.
