Karen Nakawala, cervical cancer survivor and World Health Organization advocate, founded Teal Sisters Foundation Zambia.

She boldly promotes early cervical cancer screening, breaking taboos through radio broadcasts and a Facebook Group with over 137,000 members. Karen's advocacy creates a supportive community for women's health discussions.

Laëtitia Eïdo, actress

Laëtitia Eïdo, born and raised in France, to a French father and a Lebanese mother, is an actress best known as the lead in the Netflix series Fauda. 

Laëtitia has her own experience of cancer to share. She was a caregiver to her mother, who had advanced-stage cancer, and was herself diagnosed with pre-cancerous lesions which pushed her towards a healthier lifestyle.

Iain Ward, Cancer Advocate

Iain Ward from Ireland is widely recognised on social media as The King of Chemo. In 2019, facing a Stage 3 brain cancer diagnosis with an estimated 5-year lifespan, Iain made a courageous choice. Undeterred by the prognosis, he decided to dedicate his remaining years to a meaningful purpose.

Iain set a remarkable goal for himself — breaking the world record for the most funds raised during a marathon. Iain’s inspiring journey transforming adversity into an opportunity attracted attention across many media outlets including CNN and ABC News.

Kenji Lopez-Cuevas, lawyer and President of Fundación Cáncer Warriors de México

Kenji Lopez-Cuevas, lawyer and President of the Cancer Warriors of Mexico Foundation in Mexico City, has dedicated his career to leveraging legal strategies against cancer. 

Elected as a Member of the Board of Directors for the 2020-2022 term, Kenji seized the opportunity to lead UICC's member organisations in the Latin America region. The objective is clear: to share, spread, and replicate the benefits of leveraging legal tools against cancer, a mission he has been championing in Mexico.

Paulina Tamayo, nutritionist 

Paulina Tamayo is a Mexican nutritionist who specialises in sports, pediatrics, and diabetes nutrition. She holds an MBA in Business and Administration.

Paulina does triathlons, marathons and is an Ultra-marathonist. She has published a book on balanced breakfasts and dinner recipes for better nutrition. She is currently training for a 250 kilometres ultra-marathon.

Aldo Farrugia, marathon runner and President of Fundación Comuna 

Aldo holds the Guinness record for running the fastest marathon blindfolded in 3h 20mn 30sec in 2023. Aldo attempted this record to raise funds for Asociación Mexicana de Ayuda a Niños con Cáncer (AMANC), a charity dedicated to helping children with cancer.

He is also President of Fundación Comunal, a non-profit organisation with the objective to strengthen other civil society organisations and promote social participation in Mexico, and has collaborated with more than 50 NGOs, supporting underserved populations.
