Bridging the health financing gap: A key path to strengthening access to cancer medicines.

The  ATOM Coalition’s cross-cutting series addresses key issues that impact the ability of countries and patients to access cancer medicines, diagnostics, and life-saving treatments.

How can we make the greatest impact on access to essential cancer medicines through health financing?

With cancer rates rising amid a slowing global economy, many countries are not increasing their health budgets, with some cutting back. It’s now even more critical to understand and leverage public and private sources of financing for sustained access to essential cancer medicines under the leadership of governments.

To meet this challenge, the first workshop in the series is being co-hosted with the Health Finance Institute. The workshop will bring together the global ATOM Coalition network of target country stakeholders, Coalition partners and experts, to kick-off discussions on framing health financing barriers relating to access to oncology medicines to focus on:

  1. Gaining a deepened understanding of key health financing opportunities that can improve cancer medicine access.
  2. Examining LLMIC-focused case studies highlighting health financing initiatives that are improving access to cancer medicines.
  3. Engaging in dialogue for greater insights on health financing barriers at both global and country-specific levels.

Please note this is a closed workshop.
