Donations for the fight against cancer

Collection of donations. Funds will be given to the Grahamstown Hospice and other cancer organisations.

Our vision is to provide a means for Rhodes University students and the Grahamstown community at large to support cancer and the many people affected by the disease through creating awareness and raising funds for cancer research. Much like the characteristic 6 hallmarks that define cancer, we have instituted our own 6 hallmarks to aid in the prevention and treatment of cancer:

1.To emphasize the significant impact that cancer has (and is still having) on Southern Africa and the world
2. Allow students the opportunity to contribute financially in aid of cancer research through different fund-raising initiatives
3.Promote community engagement through supporting Grahamstown community members who have been affected by cancer
4.To create awareness about cancers that remain largely unknown or stigmatized, such as prostate cancer or breast cancer in men
5.Provide up-to-date, relevant and scientifically accurate information regarding current news/breakthroughs in cancer research
6.Promote a healthy lifestyle as a major factor for the prevention of cancer development
