Dialogue at a breakfast meeting - Uganda Women’s Cancer Support Organization (UWOCASO), PATH Uganda and Save A Woman Initiative (SAWI)

In Uganda, World Cancer Day will be commemorated on Friday February 4th, 2011 in partnership with Ministry of Health (MoH), Uganda Women’s Cancer Support Organization (UWOCASO), PATH Uganda and Save A Woman Initiative (SAWI). It is an important day for us to share information about the burden, interventions and challenges of cancer prevention in Uganda. Many people are suffering without the necessary information about cancer. There is a strong urgency to discuss “The bottlenecks in cancer prevention in the country and the way forward”
Commemorating this day will help us to forge an alliance for cancer prevention, better health seeking behavior in the general population, help our leaders and policy makers to understand the magnitude of cancer in the country and mobilize resources to prevent it. It will also help civil society to advocate for an enabling environment for cancer prevention and control.
