CONTACI
CONTACI is a National Conference and Exhibition on studies, projects and experiences in oncology. The conference will highlight the projects and the experiences able not only to cope with the clinical aspect but mainly with the human aspects of the disease.
CONTACI is made possible thanks to the joint collaboration of the Piedmontese Oncology Network, Biella Health Center and Hospital and private associations such as Cipomo, Bianco Airone and Fondazione Edo ed Elvo Tempia (UICC member).
In CONTACI the real protagonist is the patient. He will be surrounded by doctors and nurses, pharmacists, psychologists and sociologists, administrative and information specialists, pharmaceutical companies and voluntary associations from all over Italy. This event is an opportunity for dialogue and comparison, a moment for sharing ideas, tools and experiences, for talking about the patient’s right to well-being, his psycho-physical condition and to determine the lines of oncology for the future. The topic of 2011 CONTACI edition is Cancer: Odyssey or structured path? After diagnosing cancer, the patient feels often lost and starts his long path through health services, outpatients’ clinics, medical examinations, check-ups, prescriptions and medical advices. A real odyssey that should be, instead, a structured path where the patient is not left alone, but guided. CONTACI’s aim is to supply guidelines for a continuous assistance – conceived as a network of medical and territorial services –in charge of the citizen-patient, from the screening to the follow-up visit/palliative treatments. In addition to the medical and scientific session scheduled for all the health workers, CONTACI has planned a great number of initiatives addressed to patients and general public. Just to mention some, Ascoltiamoci (Let’s listen to each other), a session where speakers are patients that are facing cancer and the public is constituted by experts of the field from all over Italy. Or our interactive exhibition dedicated to food and nutrition and the numerous workshops that focus on the topics of Art Therapy, Foods for Cancer Prevention and Music Therapy, with internationally-known guests such as Leslie Bunt, director of MusicSpace Trust in Bristol. These last events are offered by the Fondazione Edo ed Elvo Tempia along with two sessions of educational cooking.
