Target 7 Improve Access to Diagnosis, Treatment, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care

iCANcer

In September, Apple released the first app for iPhone and iPod touch that manages the cancer journey.

iCANcer is meant to benefit cancer patients, survivors and caregivers alike. The app helps manage medical information by allowing you to calculate the ANC, graph labs, log treatment, save doctor appointment information, log side effects and late effects.

The app has many other features to put your mind at ease:

Mahak, Iranian Society to Support Children with Cancer

The Mahak Society to Support Children with Cancer is a non-governmental organisation in Tehran dedicated to helping Iranian children with cancer. It runs an 18000 m2 hospital in the north of Tehran.

The organisation was founded in 1991 by Saideh Ghods. She had experienced having a child with cancer and had witnessed first hand the difficulties faced by her child, and pledged that she would set up a center that would act as a sanctuary for children and their families in a similar situation.

Join the fight

In September 2009, the Canadian Cancer Society launched “Join the Fight”, an impassioned campaign that rallies Canadians to join the Society in the battle against cancer.

The movement transforms the range of emotions that cancer can cause into a powerful collective resolve to fight the disease. The campaign was promoted using traditional media and social media.

The winning internet video, “Fight”, shows unrehearsed, emotional testimonials from real Canadians whose lives have been touched by cancer. “This short film gives us a glimpse at the harrowing experiences that cancer patients and their families face, but also shows their courageous and inspirational responses” says Canadian Cancer Society president and CEO Peter Goodhand.
