Cancer Information Day
Taking Place on Saturday 4th Feb at Salisbury Guildhall this event includes information based on 4 strands:
1. Prevention: We have smoking advisors, the NHS alcohol and drugs team, NHS Screening literature, a dietican who will be offering advice on healthy diet and conducting BMI Checks, Cholestrol checks by a local GP,instruction on how to check moles and information on protceting your skin from the sun.
2. Cancer: We have Macmillan, Cancer Research UK, Wessex Cancer Trust,A Marie Curie Nurse, a chemotherapy nurse offering advice on hair loss, 2 Breast care nurses with training aids and advice on how to check for lumps and all 3 local hospices are teaming up to offer advice too.
3. Specific Cancers: Pancreatic Cancer UK and Kidney Cancer UK will both have information stands as will Jo's Trust [ Cervical Cancer] and the Roy Castle Lung Foundation [ TBC] and Breast Cancer Campaign [TBC]
4.Advice for those caring for someone with Cancer. Our charity [ Carer Support Wiltshire] supports people caring for those with disabilities or illness. We have displays showing the work we do and 2 Support Workers on hand to advise. The Dept of Work and Pensions, Swan Advocacy, Wiltshire Councils Carers Emergency card and Age UK will all be there with useful information
