Cancer Atlas launched in French and Spanish

The French version of the Cancer Atlas was launched during the 4th Meeting of ALIAM and the Spanish during LALCEC's Annual Meeting.

The ceremony took place on the first day of the 4th Meeting of ALIAM (the Alliance of African and Mediterranean French Speaking Leagues), in the presence of representatives from 23 francophone countries, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on Friday, April 10th.

Some of the key representatives included Madame Dr Raymonde Goudou Coffie, Minister of Health of the Ivory Coast, Professor Serigne Gueye, President of ALIAM (and UICC Board Member), Mme Joannie Tieulent from the American Cancer Society, Mr Riccardo Lampariello from UICC and Dr Marc Keller from the French League Against Cancer.

The Cancer Atlas is the result of a joint initiative between the American Cancer Societythe International Agency for Research on Cancer, and the Union for International Cancer Control to give the global cancer community a new tool in the fight against cancer. Providing leaders worldwide with actionable data and insights to make better decisions, in order to work toward putting an end to the cancer epidemic.

The launch of the French version on Friday was closely followed by the launch of the Spanish edition on Saturday, 11th April in Cordoba, Argentina at the Annual Meeting of LALCEC (Liga Argentina de Lucha Contra el Cancer).  Over 150 representatives of LALCEC's national network participated in the launch event, with Diego Paonessa, Executive Director of LALCEC and Melissa Rendler Garcia from UICC presenting the new publicaton (see image below) .
