CALL FOR SESSION PROPOSALS - 2014 World Cancer Congress

UICC is looking forward to receiving your session proposal for the 2014 World Cancer Congress, to be held in Melbourne, Australia, on 3-6 December 2014.

Thank you for completing the session proposal web form and submitting it by pressing the “Submit” button at the bottom of the page. The deadline for submissions is 31st May 2013 at 24h00 CET.

Any incomplete form may not be taken into consideration by the Programme Committee who will act as the reviewing panel for all proposals.

Please ensure that you have read the guidelines which will help you submit a quality proposal for the 2014 World Cancer Congress.

NB: Please note that incomplete forms cannot be saved.

UICC will privilege proposed sessions that include the following:

Emphasis on interaction
Innovative thinking in line with the theme and tracks
Tools/implements that may be used by the audience
Topics of global interest

1. Symposium

Definition	Session featuring a panel of experts giving presentations and/or discussing on a specific topic aligned with the programme four tracks.
Length	60 or 90 minutes
Panellists	60 minute panel: 4 panellists maximum 90 minute panel: 5 panellists maximum
Chairs	2 chairs maximum
Discussion time	At least 15 minutes
Room capacity	From 100 to 500 delegates
Stage set-up	Panel discussion (sofas) or presidential table

2. Interactive panel discussion

Definition	Mix of an expert panel and audience interaction on specific topics aligned with the programme four tracks.
Length	60 or 90 minutes
Panellists	60 minute panel: 4 panellists maximum 90 minute panel: 5 panellists maximum
Chairs	2 chairs maximum
Discussion time	Ideally half of the session should be dedicated to participation from the audience.
Presentations	5 minutes of PowerPoint presentation max. per panellist
Room capacity	From 100 to 500 delegates
Stage set-up	Panel discussion (sofas) or presidential table

3. “How to...” session

Definition	Highly interactive session aimed at addressing a given issue through a variety of approaches. For delegates who are seeking instructions on a particular topic or skill. This session style may be used for specific demonstration and skill learning. Focus on sharing and interacting with the audience, and providing educational tools and new skills.
Length	30 or 60 minutes
Speaker	30 minute session: 1 speaker maximum 60 minute session: 3 speakers maximum
Chairs	1 chair only
Discussion time	Ideally half of the session should be dedicated to participation from the audience.
Presentations	5 minutes of PowerPoint presentation max. per panellist
Room capacity	From 50 to 150 delegates

4. The big sCreen

Definition

An opportunity to showcase crafted short films or campaign videos that have had a marked impact. The video clips should be aligned with at least one of the programme tracks. They should have been conceived for a specific purpose and target, aimed at achieving a definite objective in a given context. All media showcased as part of The big sCreen will be made available to download for all Congress participants.
