Founded in 1933 and based in Geneva, UICC’s growing membership of over 770 organisations across 155 countries, features the world’s major cancer societies, ministries of health, research institutes and patient groups.

Summary of Position

UICC has an exciting time ahead with a number of ambitious and challenging projects to deliver in the coming years. As a result, UICC will be strengthening its fundraising capability to support the programme plans. UICC is looking for a Business Development Manager who is keen to work in a well-regarded international organisation to fundraise for global cancer initiatives. The Business Development Manager will work in close partnership with the Director of Business Development and the CEO to develop effective strategies for income generation. This position will work with the teams across UICC and other external partners to deliver successful fundraising activities targeted at companies, foundations and wealthy individuals.

Main responsibilities

  1. Supporting the development of the fundraising strategy and annual plan
  2. Managing the fundraising campaign
  3. Identifying prospects and sequencing gift requests to maximise opportunities
  4. Establishing, maintaining and strengthening relations with key UICC partner, members, BOD and other external stakeholders
  5. Defining and implementing effective stewardship activities
  6. Developing and managing cultivation activities and high-level events
  7. Writing and producing compelling major proposals and campaign reports
  8. Coaching the various teams of volunteer leaders and staff that will be making gift requests.

Candidate requirements

  • An advanced university degree with a minimum of 3-5 years proven track record of fundraising in a non-profit organisation or an international organisation or a consultancy firm
  • As the activities will include the coverage of Asia Pacific regional fundraising experience and languages are a strong plus
  • Superior written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in English – Preferably mother-tongue
  • Proven ability to meet fundraising targets
  • Event management experience a plus
  • Good knowledge of philanthropic sector - foundations, companies and high net worth individuals
  • Proactive, team player and well organised
  • Good networker
  • Permit to work in Switzerland

The role will be based at UICC headquarters, 62 Route de Frontenex, 1207, Geneva, Switzerland
