• A Scientific seminar will be organized on 3rd February, 2011 at Millon Hall between 1pm-2:30pm. All doctors and nurses of BSMMU will be invited in the scientific seminar. Prof. Brigediar Malek, Chairman, National Heart Foundation will be invited as chief guest. WHO representative will be invited to join the meeting.
• A presentation will take place on World Cancer Day 2011 using the Theme “Teach children and teenagers to avoid UV exposure by being “sun smart”.
• Four scientific papers will be presented by the 4 Deans of the respective facilities describing the available services for cancer prevention at BSMMU and other cancer related services. For each presentation, 10 minutes time has been allocated. Following those presentations, Prof. Pran Gopal Datta, Vice-Chancellor of BSMMU will present on “Smoking and Cancer”. Another paper will be presented a paper on “Cessation of Smoking” by a WHO resource person.
• Attempt will be taken to publish some related articles in the newspaper.
• Media will be involved
• BSMMU will take initiatives to develop protocol and collecting fund to run the anti smoking activities.
• The Vice-Chancellor will announce the introduction of “Smoking Cessation Clinic” at the out patients department (OPD) of BSMMU where a room will be allocated and two medical officers will be placed.
