NCD Alliance welcomes new partner

The NCD alliance has welcomed the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) as the fourth partner of the alliance along with the International Diabetes Federation, the World Heart Federation and UICC.

Established in 1920, The Union has been involved in research and education for several decades, focussing on tuberculosis, HIV, lung health and tobacco control.

The Union, with nearly 10,000 members and subscribers from 145 countries, will become a valuable new partner in the alliance’s battle against NCDs, which face lack of funding and government attention worldwide. NCDs, which include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer and chronic respiratory disease, are responsible for 60% of all global deaths; some 80% of these deaths occur in low and middle-income countries.

By joining forces in this unique collaboration, the NCD Alliance has created a powerful voice for change. Together, the alliance is now reaching a global network of over 880 member associations in 170 countries worldwide.
