INCB President addresses opioid availability and access at African Union Conference

International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) President Prof. Hamid Ghodse, accompanied by the Secretary of the Board, Mr Jonathan Lucas, addressed the 4th Session of the African Union Conference of Ministers for Drug Control and Crime Prevention.

Held on October 1, 2010 in Addis-Ababa, the event was opened under the theme "Turning the tide of drugs and crime in Africa - from policy to action", by the President of Ethiopia H.E. Girma Woldegiorgis.

The INCB President strongly emphasized the need for regulatory aspects of drug control to be addressed by African countries, including the availability of drugs for medical purposes. Click here for Ghodse’s 5-page statement and a photo of the event.
