30th German Cancer Congress 2012
Cancer will be diagnosed more frequently in the coming years. The complexity of associated problems is demonstrated in the current debate surrounding iimproving early detection and the financial viability of modern treatment methods in an inclusive healthcare system. For this reason the theme for the next congress is: Securing quality - calling for and encouraging research. IIn conjunction with this it is going to be increasingly important to encourage young people to work in the demanding but also advanced area of oncology. The Junior Academy and the Forum for Young Science aim to inspire the interest of young scientists in this area.
Enthusiasm is best promoted by a high-level, quality scientific congress. The German Cancer Congress is the only interdisciplinary congress of its kind in Germany and the second largest congress of its kind anywhere in the world. New formats such as the “best of” meetings or the moderated discussion/poster sessions offer the opportunity to debate the current scientific highlights of the medical societies in front of a highly-experienced interdisciplinary audience. Collaborative work with the ASCO and other major international associations plus the very successful international keynote lectures will be a feature of all future German Cancer Congress programs.
In addition to exchange between the international medical experts, this year will again see a continuation of the intensive dialogue with healthcare practitioners, patient representatives and self-help groups.
