1000 days until the MDGs target in 2015

On 5 April, the UN and partners worldwide will observe the 1,000 day mark to the 2015 target date for the MDGs*.

Header Paragraph

Governments, international organisations and civil society groups around the world have helped cut in half the world’s extreme poverty rate. More girls are in school, fewer children are dying and the world continues to fight killer diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and AIDS. However more remains to be done. There are 1,000 days left to accelerate action on issues such as hunger, access to education, maternal health and gender equality.

The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) supports the MDG Momentum campaign and actions over the next 1,000 days that will help secure a healthy future for all.

Cancer and other Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) are also a major cause of poverty and barrier to development; UICC will be working closely with NCD Alliance partners in the lead-up to the 2015 target to position health and NCDs at the heart of the post-2015 development agenda:  http://ncdalliance.org/post-2015-development-framework-and-ncds
